Scene Nights

Maybe an individual wants to be involved in Ensemble activities but can't afford the time commitment of a full-scale production during the semester. Maybe a lifelong "techie" wants to work in a modest setting to explore acting, or a fledgling actor has a dream role. Or maybe a member of the Ensemble wants a taste of the directing experience.

The Shakespeare Ensemble's Scene Nights, performed during MIT's Independent Activities Period and sometimes late in the spring, are small, informal events, free for the public, where Ensemble members old and new can express their talents. Scenes take place in a rehearsal room around MIT with minimal scenery, costumes, and lighting. Actors and directors find each other and rehearse on their own time.

Few theater groups on campus offer such an intimate theatrical event, which, more than any full-scale production, embodies the principles of a theater ensemble.
