As with any large enterprise, MIT seeks to foster the reasonable
physical safety of our main campus and other facilities.
The EHS Office plays a key role in facilitating and managing good
practices and overall compliance with occupational safety and health
regulations, including federal (OSHA), state, and local regulations.
Major areas of focus include life safety, fire safety, electrical
safety, explosives safety, working at elevations (ladders, scaffolding),
mechanical safety, construction safety, safety for special events,
emergency preparedness and response, and accident reporting and
investigations.
