The MIT Vagina Monologues

Since 1998, hundreds of colleges and universities around the world have produced benefit productions of "The Vagina Monologues" to raise awareness and money for local community organizations that are working to stop violence against women and girls.  Last year was MIT's first year joining the college campaign, and we raised over $6,000 which was donated directly to organizations that work to end rape, battery, female genital mutilation, and sexual slavery.

V-day is a worldwide movement to stop violence against women and girls.  V-day is also a day - on or around Valentine's Day - for which annual theatrical and artistic events are produced to raise money and to transform consciousness.  You can find out more about V-day at www.vday.org.

MIT plans on performing The Vagina Monologues again this coming spring in order to raise more money and educate more of the MIT Community about these issues.  We plan on putting on three performances of The Vagina Monologues along with other campus-wide events such as the clothesline project.  We will be performing in Little Kresge for our three performances, and we have auditions scheduled for Nov. 17th and 18th.
