ESG Lego Robotics Seminar
Policies:
- Grades
The ESG Lego Robotics Seminar is graded Pass/Fail.
This leads to the question "How do I pass this class?". The key factor
to passing this class is coming to all your lab hours every week and
working on the projects we assign. We also expect you to have lots of
fun! Don't worry if you can't do all of the projects. We understand
that everyone has different backgrounds in programming and legos. As
long as you come to lab regularly and put in some honest effort,
things should be okay.
- Projects/Pacing
To get credit for a project you have to demo in in front of the one of the tutors. We will then decide if your "creation" has fullfilled all the requirements
for the project. If it passes, then you go on to the next project, if
not try again later.
- Rules of Conduct
- Do Not destroy or alter any Lego without permission! Legos are very expensive!
- Keep the Lab Area Clean and Orderly. Be sure to put lego pieces back where you
found them. Doing this will make it easier to find what your looking for, thus
making it easier to build your robots.
- All of your creations should be stored on the shelves. If something is left down on the work area it may be scrapped for parts.
- All "creations" shall be stored devoid of motors, switches, batteries, sensors, etc...
- If we run low on parts, there will be a one robot limit per person.
- Some limited parts, wheels and lego weights for example, may be
CAREFULLY removed from other robots. If possible, ask the owner
before you take action--most times the owner will want to do the
extraction him/herself.
- Computer Policies
Writing code for the programming portion of this class is considered
classwork, so you do have a certain priority over other
students/faculty who are not using the computers for actual
classwork. If you need a terminal, ask if anyone could get off because
you need to do classwork.
