The East Coast Reunion 2004

October 15-17, 2004

Hi alumni:

We had such fun at our June West Coast alumni reunion that we decided to have an ESG alumni reunion in Cambridge this October. We have picked the weekend of October 15th-17th which coincides with MIT Homecoming and Family Weekend. All ESG alumni and their families (regardless of where you live) are invited to attend! More information will be forthcoming shortly, but planned events include a big dinner at ESG, interactive workshops on different forms of alternative learning (run by students, staff, and alumni), a foliage/apple picking/biking trip, and possibly an overnight retreat in southern NH for alumni who want to become involved in ESG in a substantial and on-going way.

I have listed below our plans. If you have more (or other) ideas, let me know. Also, if you are interested in getting involved in the planning of this event, send me email. It should be fun!

Holly (hbsweet@mit.edu)

Latest Schedule and other miscellaneous data

The following activities will be run for the Cambridge reunion (all events will take place at ESG unless otherwise noted):

  • Friday October 15
    • 12:30-2 Lunch for ESGers, alumni, and families (activity/speaker TBA)
  • Saturday October 16
    • 2-5:30 ESG workshops/seminars run by alumni/staff/students (if you want to run an activity, please email Holly at hbsweet@mit.edu by Sunday, October 3; finalized schedule will be posted on Monday, October 4)
    • 6-8 BIG dinner at ESG (cooked by the fabulous Suki Dorfman '05) for alumni, friends, families, and ESGers
  • Sunday October 17
    • 11-1 Brainstorming brunch/meeting chez Slocum for alumni/staff/students about how to encourage educational innovation at ESG (including how to raise funds for new ventures). Alex Slocum's house is in Bow, New Hampshire, about an hour's drive from MIT. Apple picking, hiking, foliage hunting are all activities to enjoy in his neighborhood. Directions to Alex's place are available in PDF format.

Further details will be posted in the near future. . .
