This is the catalog description of 10.27:
Prereq: 10.32, 10.37
U(1)
0-8-4

Intended to provide instruction in the art of experimentation and data analysis and introduce theory of selected unit operations. Emphasis given to developing oral and written communication skills.
A few words more:
In the Processes Lab 10.27, students work in three-person groups. Each group works on four experiments, investigating a mix of kinetics, separations, transport and other topics. Equipment and experiments evolve with time, driven in large part by responses to student recommendations. Although equipment is reused from one experiment to the next, each group is assigned a new problem to which the answers are not yet known. Each student will write three individual lab reports and one group report. Each will make one formal presentation. The individual lab reports from this subject will normally fulfill Phase 2 of the MIT Writing Requirement.
Beginning in Fall, 1995 10.27 will be offered only in the Fall semester. If you have questions about 10.27 or 10.26, please contact Eric Anderson at x3-2369.
