Quarterly Awards Reward Exceptional Performance
This award recognizes an individual’s exceptional performance and contributions that have high impact results in the way we provide service to our customers, perform our jobs, or improve our skills sets in the application of our work. The award, given quarterly, includes a certificate and a $100 gift certificate. An individual may receive a maximum of two (2) “Pursuit of Excellence” Awards each fiscal year.
Nominations may be submitted by colleagues, managers, supervisors or others within the MIT Community. Nomination forms may be sent at anytime and are available on this website. A completed form may be submitted electronically or via inter-office mail to the department’s human resources area at NE49-2100. Assistance in completing the nomination form is available by calling 617-452-3713 or by sending an email to dof-rr@mit.edu.
Pursuit of Excellence Awards may be presented for the following criteria:
- For demonstrating leadership such as proactively enhancing service, developing a plan, providing research, or developing data that contributes to the success of an event, project, or delivery of service within the department or to any MIT customer.
- For extraordinary performance during a particularly difficult circumstance or while responding to a critical situation or emergency event.
- For demonstrating innovation in developing and implementing a solution to a complex problem.
- For identifying and taking action that prevented an error or problem from having a major negative impact or costly expense.
- For developing new skills and knowledge or staying current on relevant trends that enhance his/her job effectiveness by completing college courses, attending a series of seminars or in-house professional development offerings, or by becoming certified or licensed in his/her relevant professional field.
- For identifying a significant safety hazard or risk and taking an active role in responding to and correcting the problem.
- For recommending a solution, and working with other resources
as necessary to determine the feasibility of implementing the recommendation,
that has the potential for a positive impact on energy or environmental
efficiency at the Institute.
