Building a Life Within the MIT Community
Creating on-campus housing for our graduate community and increasing the spaces available for undergraduates is a primary initiative of the Institute. Thanks to several new housing complexes there are now more opportunities for our students. The new residences include: 224 Albany Street; Sidney and Pacific Street Dormitory; and Simmons Hall. In addition, Alvar Aalto’s great architectural masterwork Baker House, built in 1947, received a major renovation in honor of its fiftieth anniversary.
Now under construction is a new graduate residence that will complete the community in the northwest section of campus. Also scheduled is a complete renovation of Ashdown House, originally a graduate residence that will be transformed into an undergraduate residence.
