Room Reservations
If you would like to make a reservation, arrange a site visit, or simply ask a question, please contact us at 617-253-2111. Please confirm your reservation with a deposit and a signed copy of the event order within 14 days of the initial booking and no less than three weeks prior to the event date; reservations made within three weeks of the event date must be confirmed at the time of booking.
Other Considerations
Food and beverage charges are subject to a 6.75% Massachusetts sales tax and a .75% City of Cambridge sales tax where applicable. Events held on holidays or holiday weekends will incur a surcharge up to 20%, depending upon the details of the event. All non-MIT events are subject to a 15% administrative charge; this administrative charge is not intended to be a tip, gratuity or service charge for the benefit of employees. Please note that pricing is subject to change; every consideration will be given should this be necessary.
The MIT Faculty Club is the only licensed authority to sell and serve food and beverage for consumption at the Club. All food will be prepared by our expert culinary team. In accordance with the City of Cambridge and Health Department regulations, no food or beverage may be removed from the premises following an event.
Service Periods and Labor Charges
All events are planned for a two-hour service period. To ensure the smooth execution of your event, appropriate staffing is determined by our Catering Department. Prices for all served meals and buffets at the Club include service staff for a two-hour period with appropriate set-up and breakdown when group minimums are met. Waitstaff fees will be assessed for receptions, breaks, and smaller groups where applicable. Extended event duration, set-up and/or breakdown efforts are billed at $38.00 per hour, per waitstaff. Waitstaff and bartenders for non-inclusive events are billed $38.00 per hour, per server. Catered events outside of The Faculty Club will incur staffing fees for all required human resources.
Weekday Room Requirements
If the minimum food and beverage revenue requirement is not achieved, a room rental / set-up fee will be assessed in order to meet the requirement. Additional room fees may be assessed to accommodate extraordinary set-ups. Weekend events incur a $4,000 food and beverage minimum and a $1,500 room rental / set-up fee.

Cancellation Procedures
The Faculty Club at MIT provides space, food and beverage, and guest services for your event. As it is difficult and costly to resell the space that you have reserved, the Club will assess a fee in the case of any change or cancellation to any part of your reservation. Every effort to rebook the space will be made by our Sales Team. When space is rebooked, no penalty will be applied. Our cancellation schedule for weekday business events is as follows:
| When written notice is received from you: | This % of the room revenue requirement (see above chart) is assessed as a cancellation fee |
|---|---|
| 60 days or more from scheduled date | No penalty |
| 22 — 59 days from scheduled date | 25% of the room requirement |
| 6 — 21 days from scheduled date | 50% of the estimated total of your event or 50% of the room requirement, whichever is higher |
| Within 5 business days of the scheduled date | The estimated total of your event or the room requirement, whichever is higher |
