Finding Community

Diversity: Living in the Boston Area

Resources for American Indian Faculty and Their Families

Fewer than 1 percent of Boston and Cambridge residents are American Indian. This makes it more challenging to find community here.

However, Harvard's Native American Program is a focal point for American Indian professionals living in the Boston and Cambridge area, who may come from different nations across the U.S., but come together here as community. MIT also has a student chapter of American Indian Science and Engineering Society.

Local organizations with networking opportunities include:

Harvard University Native American Program (HUNAP)

Brings together Native American, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian students and interested individuals to advance the well-being of indigenous peoples through self-determination, academic achievement and community service.
