Travel information


The 2010 FAMLi workshop will take place in the Stata Center of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Stata Center is MIT building 32 at 32 Vassar Street. Registration will take place outside of room 32-D461, on the fourth floor of the Dreyfoos tower. To get there, take elevator marked “Dreyfoos” (not “Gates”) and then follow the FAMLi signs.


The closest airport to MIT is Boston’s Logan International Airport (code BOS).  MIT can be reached from the airport by public transportation ($2, about 30 minutes), or by taxi (about $20–$30, 15–20 minutes depending on traffic).

  1.   By taxi: ask for “MIT Stata Center” at 32 Vassar Street, near the corner of Vassar and Main Streets in Cambridge.

  2.   By public transportation:  From any terminal at Logan Airport exit to the “ground transportation” area and take the Silver Line bus to South Station. At South Station, change to the Red Line subway to Kendall/MIT (inbound toward Alewife). Exit the Kendall/MIT station and walk up Main Street toward Vassar Street (see map above). Turn left on Vassar and the Stata Center will be on your left.

FAMLi has arranged group rates at a hotel very close to the conference venue: The Kendall Square Marriott (officially called “Boston Marriott Cambridge”). We have reserved:

  1. 15 rooms for each of the nights of April 22–25, at $149/night (single/double). This rate is guaranteed—until these 15 rooms are exhausted—for reservations made before April 1st.
