Where did you do your F/ASIP internship?
Food Pantry of Waukesha County ( MIT Public Service Center fellowship)
What different search strategies did you use to find your internship?
I applied for everything and anything - consulting, investment banking, community service opportunities, research, etc. Through these applications, I gained a lot of experince on the do's and don'ts of resumes, cover letters, and interviewing, which was much-needed.
What made you decide to work there?
I volunteered at the Food Pantry for previous summers. This fellowship gave me the opportunity to take ownership of various workstreams at the pantry and have more of an impact there. In addition, I was able to make money and be close to home for the summer after my freshman year.
What
was the "coolest" thing tabout your internship?
I loved working at the Food Pantry because it was with an incredible group of people that cared to help the community by volunteering their time and money.
Do
you have any advice for future F/ASIP students?
Be creative with your internship. Take advantage of the many opportunities that MIT offers - there are tons of interesting things out there.
In
my own words...
"One of my biggest regrets after leaving MIT is that I felt like I was unaware of a lot of awesome things that occur there. I am so glad that I was able to take advantage of one of the fabulous opportunities - the MIT PSC fellowships. However, there are tons more out there - dig deep and find something unique! It makes you stick out on the resume."
