At least they still retain the weapons you give them. I am not sure whether I'll keep tossing the pearls from now on or not...
July 28th, 2005 Edit - Seemed I jumped the gun on this. Dropping pearls seem to have no affect after all as of this writing.
Lol! This happened on my second run of the day. I had intended to get a screen shot of Edge and his NPC with me and mine. We started attacking our second goblin of that run and I was thinking, "I'll do it after this Bouncer." But, Edge Tricked Attacked onto Nanako and the above is the result. ^^ I'm so glad I didn't let him Trick onto Mugido yesterday when he asked or I'd have been ticked. Lol.
Oh well. I got one of just us three. ^^
Edge got tired of Mugido and I hogging all the glory so he sent me these. Happy now Edge? ^^ I think he was still pouting from yesterday...
Ugh!! Sorry Mugido, I can't xp with you while your wearing Subligar. I don't wanna risk being seen with you, man. Congrats on attaining level 35, but dang... Put some pants on, I beg you!! /sulk
But, he seems to have Centurion Gauntlets and Centurion Greaves. What the heck is going on with his gear??! Is it me or did SE apply the "Discerning Eye" (airship passenger quest) randomizer to these NPCs?
July 27th, 2005 - I thought about... Thought some more about it... Then, slept on it... Woke up and thought some more... I decided to xp with Mugido despite his wearing Subligar... /sigh... Let me tell you, it wasn't an easy decision...
Anyway, at long last! A picture with Nanako!! And, she's alive!!! Everyone cheer!!!!11oneonetwo
Okay. The picture isn't that great. I'll do better next time...
Woot! Mugido got rid of the Subligar. I can xp with him with pride again! (All right!)
Here we are on our second run of the day. And we added another member. Well, two members I suppose... Meet Omiss and his NPC named Armittie. Omiss is a friend of mine from my Dynamis Linkshell. I don't know much about Armittie (you'll find out why later).
Wait... I'm the only one with a guy NPC? What the heck!!? Oh well. I can take comfort in knowing my NPC can beat both their NPCs. /em snickers.
Yes, I change gear to make myself look good in screen shots. What of it? d:
/sigh... /double sigh... /sigh some more... I really didn't wanna show this screenshot... But, I promised the one who used Raise III on us I would (/em shakes fist!!) So embarrassing...
Okay. Let me explained what happened... (Please listen.) It all started with me reading forums this morning. I read that some people confirmed that NPCs do receive xp chains by killing mobs fast. They already have their NPCs at level 39 by non-stop xp chaining until their NPCs despawn. The way they do it is by using three Black Mages in a party, then training and nuke-ga'ing stuff around them. They probably even beat the 15 kill limit by nuking extra mobs when their NPCs are close to despawning. So, I was like, "We gotta do this too!! /em bounces joyfully like a Tarutaru..." You see where this is going...?
I found out Omiss, who happened to have a high-level Black Mage, is xping his NPC too and invited him to join us on our second run. We meet and called our NPCs. I explained the plan: Omiss would use Blink and Stoneskin. We'd train mobs to a predetermined location. Then, Omiss would nuke the crap out of them with Edge and I picking off those Omiss missed... Sounds good in theory right? I know you can see where this is going now...
Well, I made a sliiight miscalculation on the strength of the mobs... And, it goes down hill from there. At my urging, Edge trains back 9 goblins. Then, I trained 1 Goblin Robber, 1 Master Coeurl, and 3 Worker Crawlers... You read correctly. We had at least 14 mobs on us. Most were level 50 or higher.
Omiss only got one Thundaga III spell off and was promptly beaten to a pulp. I managed to kill one and tried to (Run away!), but it was too late. If I had started running when Omiss died, I might have survived. But, ohhhh no... I had to kill one you know?
After I died, Edge followed (tricky Thief being last to die). I'm unsure whether Edge killed his mob though (probably not d: )... I'm so sorry guys... Really, I am... But, we all got Raise III (thanks to Harleydragonldy) and learned our lesson... Until the next time... /em cackles...
After picking up what was left of my pride, I went to talk to Luto and this is what she told me. I wonder if she figured out Mugido is a guy yet? Luto did say "he" and "his" this time...
/sigh... I guess not... Oh well... I'll check to see whether Mugido received the Greataxe tomorrow.
July 28th, 2005 - I Omiss was MIA today, but we got another Black Mage. Meet Btaru (AKA B) and his NPC named Raka (AKA...err...Raka...). Another girl NPC. Am I weird for having a Galka NPC...? Anyway, I caught them sharing a tender moment. ^^ Btaru, what do you and Raka do when no one is looking I wonder...? B kept saying (Mithra) (hand) (inside) (trousers)! Hehe. I'm kidding. B wouldn't say stuff like that, but I enjoy teasing him. /em cackles.
In the background is Harleydragonldy. Man, that's a mouth...err...fingerful. We just call her Harl or Harley or Mom (don't ask, I don't feel like explaining). She's the one who gave us Raise III the day before and made me post that embarrassing picture. Remind me to just Home Point next time. Regardless, out of concern for us reckless youths, she decided to hang around in case we didn't learn our lesson from the day before.
What? We wouldn't try that again...
Clarification: When I said "again," I meant 14 mobs at one time. This time we only had five to nine. See? No problem...
Clarification Part Two: When I said "No problem," I meant no one died. Well, B was low on hp a few times, but Harl cured him.
Clarification Part Three: When I said "no one died," I meant none of the PCs died. Raka died early in the spell-ga trial. I'm not sure how. Nanako died due to Bomb Toss spam from the goblins. Mugido was very low on hp, but Harl healed him with Cure. That's right... Mugido was last NPC standing. So, y'all can keep your girlie NPCs with their low defense and low hp. Make mine Galka!!
Just kidding. Harl, thanks for the Cure!!!!!!!11oneonetwo...
Another level, another equipment upgrade. Well, not really an upgrade because he had that body piece before on July 22nd and 25th. But, at least he's out of that cursed Scale Mail. Hmm... I guess I should reserved "cursed" for Subligar (I won't even make a link for it). Instead, I'll say "blasted Scale Mail" (I'm trying to keep this site rated PG, so sue me). Either way, this change was for the better.
I wonder which doublet it is though. It's either Doublet (level 11), Cotton Doublet (level 23), or Linen Doublet (level 33). It could also be Wool Doublet (level 42), but Mugido's level isn't that high. However, this didn't stopped him from wearing level 40 Cuisses on July 20th and 26th (I couldn't find a lower level cuisses with that look).
The pants are either Chain Hose (level 24) or Silver Hose (level 36).
Poor Edge. This was our second run of the day. Edge went to pull some goblins, but he was under the impression this was a test trial. I was willing to go along with it until B called Raka. So, I called Mugido. Then, Edge trained the goblins back and saw our NPCs and that was his response. Hehe.
It went much better this time. No PC or NPC deaths and our NPCs made Chain #7.
Here we screwed up a little. We had killed eight goblins before so we knew we had seven kills left before our NPCs despawned. The plan was to train back only six goblins this time so we could kill extra goblins on our final spell-ga run. Unfortunately, seven were trained back and they were Sleepga'd. Even if Edge could train one back and use Hide, B would still have hate since they were all affected by the spell. Oh well, better luck next time. Our NPCs still had Chain #6 with these.
By the way, Nanako attained a new level before despawning. (Congratulations!)
Retrograde in boots again. Well, kind of... Back to Leaping Boots or maybe even Winged Boots.
