Mugido is trying to torture me... I just know it... He's wearing the same boots he wore around the second and third time I called him. A slightly better improvement over the pumps, but they are ugly. Seems to be level 1 RSE boots.
Okay, I have no idea what Kairu is saying. But, I have a feeling he recognized my phrase... Maybe I'm just being paranoid...
I found out, he's saying, "Arigatou" to Harl's cure. I guess I was paranoid. ^^
OMG! He has pants again!! And decent looking boots, but they look like RSE... Hmm... Oh, and he's level 40 now. The demon xp is nice.
I tried switching his headgear again to no avail. I talked with Luto in Jeuno, and nothing new there.
Oh. Please, disregard Harl's emote. She's begging me to get a swimsuit from the current event. But, I told her "Swimsuit + male hume + Bastok = ewwwww" despite her pleas... If I put on that get up, then I'll be in no position to joke about what Mugido is wearing...
I just put the maintenance changes at the top of the page. All I can say is this... ;;;;;;;
August 2nd, 2005 - Due to POL problems, I was forced to solo today. I was very lonely. /em sniffles... And, no one got to see Mugido with pants. But, I put on my best game face (and face paint) and carried on like a good trooper.
I am not sure whether this is dumb luck or SE improved them NPC AI. At first, Mugido and I were using weapon skills at the same time unless I managed to see his tp warning amid combat spam. Then, he started using weapon skills after me...twice... This was near the end of our session.
Oh. That "20" you see in the screen shot is my /echo count. You read correctly. Mugido despawned after 20 kills today. This must be what SE meant in yesterday's announcement by "After certain conditions are met, players will be able to keep their Fellowship NPC around for extended adventuring." Seems to be based on the NPC's level. I'm not sure whether it's linear (an extra kill every two levels) or if there's some SE voodoo magic involved. I'll let you guys know when I know.
Back to pumps, but it doesn't look nearly as bad when he's wearing pants. I guess he changed pants too. They look like Brais (level 11) or Cotton Brais (level 23). No luck changing his head gear again. I hope I'm not resetting something (a la voodoo) every time I try...
August 3rd, 2005 - Well, folks... I'm pretty down today... Keep reading and you'll see why...
First off, because of the long maintenance announced for Monday, the 8th, I decided to try to get more NPC xp time in by calling Mugido the moment the Signal Pearl lets me. If I'm right and punctual (big if on the latter), I'll be able to call him seven times in six days. A lot of people fail to realize that their pearls have a 20 hour recast instead of 24 hours. By taking advantage of this, not only will I be able to xp seven times before maintenance. I'll be able to call and xp with Mugido just before maintenance starts. Mwuhahaha!!
Don't worry. I'm not ditching Edge. Since, I'll be solo with Mugido, but duo with Edge. So, Nanako has a chance to catch up with us chaining faster. Win-win all ways around... Or so I thought...
Anyway, here's a shot of Mugido and I killing a demon with a Detonation skill chain. I was able to sense Mugido was close to having tp (no warnings) and decided to wait until he used a weapon skill. ^^ You set 'em up, Man. I'll knock 'em down for ya.
This was after our fourth fight of the session... The purpose the small picture on the left is just to show me sweating bullets while being slept. And, it wasn't because I was hot under that helm... This battle was bad start to finished. I engaged the Demon Wizard, missed, tried to use Sidewinder, but got slept before it fired. So, I never had hate. Meanwhile, Mugido immediately used Sturmwind upon engaging and didn't miss. A little while later, a Demon Pawn linked with the Wizard and started smacking Mugido too. I tried to get hate back as soon as I woke, but... Well...the screen shot on the right tells the rest of the story (with comments)...
Mugido is down... !!! ??? Medic!! Someone call the 911 Linkshell!! Anyone know CPR?? Get the paddles!! Give him a NPC Raise!! ... My kingdom for a Phoenix Down!!!!! ... I failed him!! Mugido was the chosen one, but the demons had the high ground!! /em sobs with huge anime tears...
*an hour later, after crying and bailing the tear water out of my room (mostly the latter)...*
If I hadn't missed either the Demon Wizard or Demon Pawn with my first swing, all would be right... /em sulks and decides not to get another pearl... It's okay. I'll be fine... Really... /em blows his nose on a random Tarutaru.
Oops...
Dear friends and family,
We are gathered to celebrate the life of our good friend, Mugido. Not only was he large in stature, but he had a big heart as well... Why...I remember our first adventure together... He kept Provoking mobs as if to save me, trying to take all the hits himself...
Huh? What? /em blinks... Mugido!!!!! You're alive, you big lug!! Is it really you? ... Ow... Yep, it's definitely you. Only you can give wedgies like that.
I thought I'd never see ya again... There are so many more adventures I wanted us to go on, so many places I wanted to take ya. I'm just glad you're alive... ... What do you mean by "You're not getting my Bud Light...?"
Uh... Did you lose any xp dying? What do you mean by shrugging? /sighs...
August 4th, 2005 - Yeah, demons! Mugido and I are back for some payback and we ain't messing around. Ya hear?! I even ate food so I'll be less likely to miss your scrawny butts (man, I wish I wasn't trying to keep this page rated PG sometimes). I was so eager to get some revenge that I used my Signal Pearl macro a second or two too soon.
What? Doesn't everyone use a macro to call their NPC?
Hahahaha! Sleep me all you want now... I use my arrows and don't engage until I know I hit Demon Wizards. They even slept Mugido once. He woke up yawning, confused, and what not awhile after that Wizard was dead.
We have gathered here today to celebrate Mugido attaining level 41... And him not looking ridiculous too... ^^ We made sure the demons never got the high ground today.
Now, I gotta wait another 20 hours...
August 4th, 2005 (Part 2) - Whee! 20 hours later and going again. (Sleep)? (Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass.)
I decided to change the look of my Window Type under the Config menu to transparent so more of the background can be seen. It's better for the background, but text can be hard to read sometimes. I hope you like it.
This seems weird. But, after the most recent maintenance, Black Mage mobs seem to cast more AoE spells. Although, I must admit I never xped on Black Mage mobs much with an NPC before the August 1st maintenance. Anyway, this is an example of what happens when Demon Wizards sleep us now. Miss, miss, intimidated, miss some more, dies.
Hehe. I almost get myself killed trying to chain xp demons solo. But, it worked out because Mugido attained 42 on the 20th demon of this session. Maybe I should switch him to Healer now...?
Finally, he gets rid of the level 1 RSE gloves, but he's back to wearing Doublet gear, new pants, and new boots. There were no new options at the Rendezvous Point or from Luto. I failed to make him switch from Faceguard again.
See ya back again in 20 hours. /em yawns...
Oh. Before I go, I want to let people know about another site I work on at http://www.koolaid-ffxi.org/linkshell/space/Fellowship+NPC. It should be a mirror copy of this site with more details on completing the quest. Maintaining two sites is a hassle so I may switch completely over to that site soon. Just giving notice. ^^
August 5th, 2005 - Due to a freak Teleport-Vahzl accident, Mugido was split in two; one meek, one evil... Oh wait... Due to my Signal Pearl interacting strangely with the weather of Xarcabard, a Mugido from a mirror universe appeared... Wait, wait!! One more... After beating Promathia, we found ourselves in a strange space-time continuum. In this continuum, Mugido met a warped distortion of himself: The Anti-Mugido... If they touch outside of this continuum, the universe will explode...
Okay, I'm done. ^^ Roronoya is in my Linkshell. I mentioned him before a few days ago. He decided to join us on today's adventure.
Dude, where's my car...?
I had to scroll up for that screen shot, but I thought it was worth it. To make up for making fun of Roronoya and "his Mugido" (what he meant by that, I'll leave up to the imagination of the reader), here's a shot of them beating an Evil Eye to a pulp.
This run went very fast. We've must have killed 20 demons in like 12 minutes. I was seriously expecting our NPCs to level because we were killing so fast. But, neither Mugido nor Anti-Mugido attained a new level.
New gloves and boots after this run. See ya in 20 hours. ^^
