We are a friendly club which welcomes all ages and abillities for social and competitive hockey. Both men and women play together at our indoor and outdoor games. Our members come from all over the globe, creating an open environment with a variety of skills.
The Minuteman Field Hockey Club was informally started in 1985 as an off shoot from the Boston Ladies Field Hockey Association started by Peter Summers, Navjeet Singh, and Jeff Starfield. From the early 1990s, the club was under the leadership of Jim Rouse, Jeff Starfield, and Ash Patel. The relationship with MIT was officially recognized in 1991. The current board consists of Maggie Farrand, Franny Augustine, Erik Abels, Brandon Ambrose-Brunskill, and Madison Finn. Behind the scenes, Jim Rouse remains active as an advisor to the board.
Currently, the club meets weekly for pick-up games. MIT, Harvard and Boston University provide access to their outdoor turf. Additionally MIT provides access to their indoor athletic facilities. We also travel to national and international tournaments throughout the year, as well as host our own indoor tournament every January called Boston Indoor Cup.
Simply join us by checking out our schedule, pick a game, bring a stick, and play along.
