First-Year Academics
Please review the important information in this section on the classes you will take during your freshman year, as well as information on the following: placement exams (e.g. the Freshman Essay Evaluation (FEE) and the Math Diagnostic for Physics Placement), freshman credit limits, first-year grading policies, incoming credit for previous study (e.g. advanced placement, international examination, and transfer credit).
Use the Critical Summer Actions & Deadlines page in the Countdown to Campus section as a checklist to make sure you submit forms/registrations and take placement tests on time.
The General Institute Requirements (GIRs) page shows which subjects satisfy the GIRs. As a freshman, normally you will complete most of the Science Core (Calculus, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry) and at least two of the eight required Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) subjects. You should also begin the Physical Education Requirement in your first year.
