Freshman Advising: Advising Application

The deadline for submitting your on-line Freshman Advising Application was Sunday, June 15. If you did not submit an application: We MUST hear from you about your freshman advising preference.

Read through the information about freshman advising, in this section, then e-mail your choices to firstyear-www@mit.edu and include the following information:

  1. First: Indicate your advising preference:
    • Freshman Advising Seminar (6 units of credit)
    • Concourse Learning Community (6 units of credit)
    • Experimental Studies Group Learning Community & Freshman Advising Seminar (6 units of credit)
    • Media Arts &; Sciences Learning Community & Freshman Advising Seminar (6 units of credit)
    • Terrascope Learning Community/Mission 2018 (9 units of credit)
    • Experimental Studies Group Learning Community & Traditional Advising (non-credit)
    • Media Arts & Sciences Learning Community & Traditional Advising (non-credit)
    • Traditional Advising (non-credit)
  2. Next, if you selected one of Freshman Advising Seminar options, please list up to 5 choices by Seminar Number and Seminar Title, for example:
    • EC.A740: D-Lab: Discovery
    • 20.A05: Hack Your Mind: Unlock Your Potential
    • 24.A03: That's Just Semantics: The Search for Meaning
    • 12.A45 Assembling Cambridge: From Snowball Earth to Supercontinents
    • 4.A22: The Physics of Energy
  3. Lastly, tell us something about yourself. 1) Tell us about who you are, your background, and your interests (e.g. where are you from, your interests and hobbies, what you do for fun outside of class, what your advisor should know about you). Limit is 2000 characters. AND 2) What fields/research areas inspire you or what types of problems do you enjoy solving? Why? Limit is 2000 characters.
