Advising Right Now: Development & Training Meetings

The Office of Undergraduate Advising and Academic Programming holds Advisor Development Meetings throughout the academic year. The goal of these sessions is to develop a highly knowledgeable and invested community of freshman advisors. These meetings are great opportunities to get together with fellow advisors, to learn more about campus resources, and to share information and insights with each other.

Upcoming Advisor Development Meetings

Continuing education meetings for freshman advisors will be held several times per term. Below are upcoming offerings.

Thursday, September 25 11:30-1pm or Monday, October 20 11:30-1pm in Twenty Chimneys (W20-3rd Floor): Sexual Misconduct at MIT: Title IX Efforts and Supporting Survivors

Recently, there has been a national spotlight on the issue of sexual harassment and assault on college campuses. A large number of students have publicly shared their stories, including their struggles navigating their school's reporting system. In response, MIT has been working on improving our response through new policies, procedures and reporting options. This session will provide an update on what Freshmen Faculty Advisors need to know about the Title IX efforts at MIT and how to respond to students who turn to them for information or support.

Please RSVP to Elizabeth Young by Friday, September 19 and indicate which session you are interested in attending. Lunch will be served.
