To Do When You Arrive

This page summarizes what you need to take care of when you arrive at MIT.

  • Transfer Student Orientation is scheduled Wednesday, August 26, 2009.  Leslie Bottari at bottari@mit.edu or 617-324-7600 of the UAAP will welcome you with breakfast and provide you with instructions on how to get started at MIT, including the transfer credit process.
  • MIT ID/Meal Card: You will receive a temporary ID/Meal Card when you arrive. to get your permanent card youneed to have your ID/Meal Card. To get your permanent card you need to have your picture taken as soon as you arrive on campus or during Transfer Student Orientation by visiting the MIT Card Services located in the basement of Stratton Student Center (W20-021). The MIT Card Office and TechCASH Office are open 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. For more information, visit http://web.mit.edu/mitcard/getcard.html.

  • Academic Department: It is important that you visit the undergraduate administrator of your major's department upon your arrival at MIT. Your departmental administrator will assign you to a faculty advisor, who will assist you in the registration process for the spring term.
