Transfer Orientation Schedule
The Office of Undergraduate Advising and Academic Programming (UAAP) welcomes you to MIT and aims to ensure your smooth transition to life at the Institute.
Transfer student orientation will be held from Wednesday, August 20 through Friday, August 22. Additional information will be provided in your mailing packet.
Wednesday, August 20, 2008
- Check-In: 9 am – 5 pm in 7-103
Be sure to stop by and pick up your information packet from the Office of Undergraduate Advising and Academic Programming.
- Ice Cream Social: 7– 9 pm in W11 – Large Dining Hall
After checking in and getting settled come over and get some ice cream for dessert! This is a great chance to meet current and past transfer students and to start making connections early on.

- UAAP Open House: 9 am – 12 pm in 11-103
Informational brochures will be available to help you adjust to life at MIT. Breakfast will be provided.
- Financial Aid Luncheon: 12 – 1:30 pm in W11 – Large Dining Hall
Come by and learn all you need to know about your financial aid package at MIT. It’s a great chance to ask any questions. Lunch will be provided.
- UAAP Meet and Greet Dinner: 6 – 8 pm in W11 – Large Dining Hall
Meet the staff from the UAAP who have put together this orientation program for you. The UAAP houses the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) and offers other academic programming for freshmen and all undergraduates. Dinner will be served.

- Registrar and Transfer Credit: 9:30–11 am in W11 – Large Dining Hall
Come and get all your questions answered about class registration and transfer credit. Breakfast will be provided.
- HASS and Communication Requirements Luncheon: 12 – 1:30 pm in W11 – Large Dining Hall
Learn about HASS and get an overview of the Communications Requirement in order to ensure you meet all the graduation requirements! Lunch will be provided.
- Undergraduate Administrator Meetings: 2– 4 pm in Various Offices on Campus
Have you been in contact with your department Undergraduate Administrator? Meet with the representative from your department and familiarize yourself with the department. A great chance to start making connections within your course of study!
Sunday, August 24 – September 1, 2008
- Throughout Orientation feel free to attend any events that are of interest to you. Information will be distributed on the events that we believe will benefit you.

- Registration Day! Meet with your advisors and sign up for classes.
