The MIT Italy Program, directed by Professor Richard Locke, will offer partecipating undergraduate students and graduate students (and alumni) internships in Italy
a) during the Summer (June-August)
b) for 3-12 months anytime.
The internship is a praxis oriented first-step in the career of the student. The special qualifications of the candidate will be closely matched with the expectations and demands of the company or reasearch institution. For more information contact italy@mit.edu or call Sigrid Berka at 253-6982.
Participating students will be expected to have fulfilled the following requirements:
1. Two years (minimum) of university-level Italian language training with a grade B or
better or equivalent;
2. At least one course that introduces students to important cultural, social, and political
aspects of Italian speaking countries, preferably 17.534 Domestic Politics of Western
Europe, 17.562 Political Change in Italy and Japan, 17.158 Political Economy of West
Europe - or comparable, West European politics and history courses at Harvard
University or Wellesley College;
3. Standing at MIT: You must have a grade-point average of "B" or better.
You will need to submit the following: (a). Official Transcript. Please have an official transcript sent directly to the MISTI office at the address listed below;
(b). Resume. An up-to-date resume is needed for introduction to the host company or institution;
(c). Personal and Professional Objectives for the Internship. Please write a brief (1-2
pages) description of what you hope to achieve through participation in the program. We
would like to understand what background you bring to the experience; how you see the
relation between participation and your future professional goals; and how you see the
opportunity to participate in the internship contributing to your long-term personal
goals;
