Biography:
Marie-Hélène Huet, an affiliate faculty in FLL, has authored a number of books on issues ranging from literature and social ambitions , (Le Héros et son double, Paris, Corti 1973), to cultural aspects of the French Revolution (Rehearsing the Revolution, The Staging of Marat's Death; U, of California,  1982; Mourning Glory, The Will of the French Revolution,  U. of Pennsylvania, 1997), and investigations of cultural myths in medicine, folklore, literature and science-fiction. (Monstrous Imagination, Harvard UP 1993). Her recent books include, The culture of Disaster (Chicago, 2011) and an edition of Jules Verne's novel L'île mystérieuse.

Marie-Hélène Huet has taught at UC Berkeley for many years, at Amherst College, the U. of Virginia, the U, of Michigan, and Princeton University. Her research has been supported by grants from the Guggenheim Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation at Bellagio.
