Syllabus

Explores some of the major factors that shape the life of the modern Japanese. Topics include the workplace, pop culture, festivals, family, education, and such social issues as discrimination against ethnic and minority groups. Topics studied through a variety of media, including film, music, fine arts, interactive media, and books and articles. Lectures and readings in English. 21F.594 is for students pursuing a minor in Japanese. Enrollment limited.
