Shirley and I were interested in using pictures to compare fashion, and the fashion industry, in the two countries. Are any french students interested in joining up with us on this project??? :-)

Hi, I already posted it in some other folder, but I guess it goes better here:

OK, I seem to be out of track, since I discovered just now that many people got the same idea as me: analyzing fashion magazines. I thought of a different approach, though - more about the personal images that appeal to French and the Americans. So the project could be about not only Elle and Vogue (both the US and French versions), but perhaps men's magazines, too, and it would include analyzing what aspects of personalities are projected through advertisements, interviews, portraits, etc... (ex: athletic, feminine, macho, hip, classy, glamurous, progressive...). By studying the differences between what is considered modern or attractive in France as opposed to the United States, we could get some insight into the underlying values.

So far I've heard from Claire and Yorgos... If anyone else would like to join (from both sides), let me know.
