Possible scenario for using Cultura during a semester

The suggestions below are based upon four years of experimenting with Cultura in the classroom. They are intended to serve mostly as guidelines.

Some recommendations, however:

• Although the following schedule can be somewhat compressed if needs be, it is important to keep in mind that Cultura is very process-oriented and that the process cannot be shortened too much.
• The content is so rich that shortening these time periods would require bypassing many important components.

The suggestion below is for using Cultura for the duration of a semester (approximately 10-12 weeks), and making use of all modules. Of course, you can skip some modules or lengthen them, depending on how much time you have. But again, remember that a minimum of eight weeks is recommended.

• week 1: introduction to Cultura: approach and preliminary activities.
• week 2, 3 and 4: Working with the Questionnaires and their corresponding Forums
• week 5: First essays
• week 6: working with Data and their forums
• weeks 7 and 8: working with the Films and their forums
• weeks 9 and 10: working with the Newsstand and the Library and their forums
• weeks 11 and 12: Final projects/activities
