I politely, [...] kindly, [...] bring a gift, [...] bring some food.

Most of us wrote that we probably would decline the teacher's offer, and so did you. It seems to us that you are closer to your teachers than we are, maybe because of your education, maybe you feel closer to them ?

Nous avons travaille en groupes et voila les messages 1) de Sarah H, Eli Get Laura: "Would you automatically say NO to a teacher who invited you or would it depend on who it was and why?" 2) de Thomas et de Dan: "Do you think your parents would care if you went to a teacher's house?" 3) Elena : "Why do so many of you assume the teacher is a woman?" 4) sara et Adam: "Why does it matter so much if they are good looking or not?"

Chelsea : "Americans didn't care whether teacher was good-looking or not; Americans said they would tell on him, not the French... Why would you not accept the offer? American students are not only the pupils of their teachers but many times the friends of their teachers. My school is very small and the teacher and students are on the most part, friendly. I, personally, have never had a teacher invite me alone to his/her house, but I am still friendly with my teachers and I don't only discuss school issues with them. How large are your classes at school? Would you feel it necessary to tell anyone (your parents, etc..)if your teacher invited you to his/her house. One of you asked what "LKJSD" means. It does not mean anything. Someone must have just typed various letters instead of answering the question.

Salut! This is not chelsea. This is Emily Z and I could not log into my own name so I'm writing in Chelsea's. I think that the education systems between France and America are very different. In general, I think that your education system is more conservative than ours. Most of the school I think have larger classes while in America classes are smaller and more individualized. In a smaller class environment, it is easier to connect with the teacher. I feel that I could go for extra help to any one of my teachers at any time and they would be more than happy to help me. And even some teachers, I would feel comfortable calling at home after school hours if I had a question about some work only if it was important. This school is smaller than most schools throughout the country but I think in general, there is a more personal student/teacher relationhship in American than in France. Do you agree or disagree? Do you go for extra help if you are having trouble in class? Would you ever call a teacher if you needed extra help? If you take hard classes, how much homework do you get every night on average? I'm wondering if the work load in America is larger than the work load in France. I personaly have about one hour of homework a night with the exception of having a large paper due in which case i might spend up to three hours. Of course there are people who spend much more time on homework than me and people who don't do any homework as well. Do you think Americans have a better educational system? Or do you think that the consevative system is more effecient?
