Un enfant bien élevé- A well-behaved child

We observed that for the french responses, the good child was one that behaved well outside of the house. He/she was polite, respectful, well behaved, things which seem much more important outside the house when in the company of strangers than in the comfort of the home. On the american side, the responses reflected more the parent child interactions than the childs behavior by itself. The americans seem to emphasize obedience more than politeness. Also none of the americans wrote that a good child is one that is educated or recieves a good education. Do you feel that the way your family raised you is similar to the american responses about parent to child interactions? Do you feel that americans are not polite or as repectful as French? Salut Lorri et Amy. Je suis tout à fait d'accord avec vos remarques. Mais cela ne fait que reprendre différent type de respect. Je ne pense pas qu'il faut y voir une différence sur le comportement des Américains ou des Français. Qui est plus poli ou plus obeissant n'est pas le problème. Je crois plutôt que nous ne rangerions pas ses valeurs dans le même ordre d'importance. Qu'en pensez-vous ?

bonjour, je pense que nous évaluons qu'un enfant est bien élevé quand nous le voyons se comporter en société car cela reflète en fait aussi son obéissance. Donc, en fai, nos idées se rejoignent...
