Funding Questions
Q: How do I get funding for tuition and living expenses?
A: You can either get a Research Appointment (RA) or a Teaching Appointment (TA). More information on these can be found at the Aero/Astro Website. If you cannot find an RA in Aero/Astro, you should try to find one in another MIT department or even a source outside of MIT (e.g., Draper Laboratory, NASA, FAA, your country’s educational support funds) (GA3 Funding Links).
With an RA, you should be allotted approximately $1800 per month in living expenses. Don’t forget to allocate some of your budget towards health insurance (around $600 per semester), and try to arrange monthly tax withholding from your paycheck to make it simpler come April 15 (tax day)!
