Most radio stations that play Jamaica's music tend to ignore some of it's earliest recordings(1958-1970). The purpose of my show is to highlight the mento, ska, rocksteady and skinhead reggae that formed what we now  know as reggae music.  Bob Marley, Alton Ellis, Delroy Wilson all began their careers during the ska era and it's their recordings during these time periods that I prefer more than any other recordings of their careers.  At 12:30AM (EST) each week I do a four song mento set to focus on this rarely aired music and if you have any questions about Jamaica's first recorded music then check out the fabuolous site mentomusic.com and at 1AM (EST) I put together a half hour spotlight of a particular artist, group or producer.  I feel that the spotlight is the best way to grow an appreciation for an artist that you are not too familiar with.

Hopefully by listening to my program which consists of these rare recordings you will grow in your love of these distinct styles of music much as I have.
