Mariko Takada

Mariko Takada is a talented young artist from Japan who first made herself known at MIT in 2001, when she was one of fourteen artists who came to MIT from the Bay Area Glass Institute. We invited her back in 2002 to use the Glass Lab to further develop her ideas in glass. Mariko holds a BA in Scenography/Display Design major from Musashino Art University in Tokyo, Japan. She has also studied glass art at Pilchuck Glass School, Haystack School of Craft, San Jose State University, and Palomar College (San Diego, CA), and has studied sculpture at San Francisco Art Institute. Mariko served as the art director and co-founder of the Bay Area Glass Institute in San Jose, CA from 1996-2002. She has recently moved to the east coast.
