Mariko
Takada
Mariko Takada
is a talented young artist from Japan who first made herself known
at MIT in 2001, when she was one of fourteen artists who came to
MIT from the Bay Area Glass Institute. We invited her back in 2002
to use the Glass Lab to further develop her ideas in glass. Mariko
holds a BA in Scenography/Display Design major from Musashino Art
University in Tokyo, Japan. She has also studied glass art at Pilchuck
Glass School, Haystack School of Craft, San Jose State University,
and Palomar College (San Diego, CA), and has studied sculpture at
San Francisco Art Institute. Mariko served as the art director and
co-founder of the Bay Area Glass Institute in San Jose, CA from
1996-2002. She has recently moved to the east coast.
