Abby Gitlitz

I have been involved in the MIT glass program since 1997, as a student and as a monitor. I have been interested in glass since I was a small child and have been making stained glass since the late 80's. Since 2001 I have been a full time starving artist. I like to combine my stained glass and blown glass to make strange 3-d stained glass peices. I work primarily with commissions, though I also sell my work at Art Beat and the MIT hot shop sales. I have studied glass blowing at The Studio at The Corning Museum of Glass and The Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and in 2003 I was a studio assistant at Penland School of Mountain Craft. At the moment I am working with Helmick and Schecter Studios in Newton making a large stained glass installation for the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. And for something completely different, when I am not making glass, I sell Turkish carpets, both in Turkey and in the U.S. Check out my web site.
