As his father
tells it, holes and empty spaces have fascinated Chris Laughman
since he was two years old, when he first saw a garden spade put
to use. His investigation of spaces via glass began in 1997 at MIT;
these explorations have provided him with an opportunity to meet
many fascinating people and travel unusual places, such as the Pilchuck
glass school in 2002 as the recipient of the MIT/Pilchuck glass
scholarship. He is presently doing research on modelling and control
of the spaces we occupy as part of his pursuit of a Ph.D. in Building
Technology. He is also an instructor of beginning glassblowing at
the MIT glass lab.
