Mincle (Clecsf9)

Mincle is a macrophage inducible C-type lectin localized to the distal region of murine chromosome 6 (syntenic with human chromosome 12) in a cluster with three other related genes: Mcl (macrophage C-type lectin), Dcir (dendritic cell immunoreceptor) and dectin2 (dendritic cell-associated lectin 2).

Based on the genomic structure, a conditional targeting strategy was designed. Exons 3 and 4 are floxed (placed between two loxP sites), allowing their conditional removal upon transfection with a cre recombinase-carrying plasmid or breeding with a cre recombinase-carrying mouse.
