Tutorial for adding hyper-links to summary / text

1)  Cut and paste the following at the position in the text where you wish to place the link:

                        <a href=”xxxxxxxx” target=”_blank”>yyyyyyyy</a>

2)  Replace “xxxxxxxx” with the web address you want the link to point to e.g. http://web.mit.edu

3)  Replace “yyyyyyyy” with the text you want to hyperlink.

Example:

In the following text –

In vivo functional study using ST6Gal I deficient mice indicated that this sialoside is essential in promoting B lymphocyte activation and immune function. [Hennet et al. 1998]

– you wish to link “[Hennet et al. 1998]” to the Pubmed abstract  of the paper.

The web address pointing to the abstract is: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=PubMed&cmd=Retrieve&list_uids=9539767&dopt=Citation

Solution: In this case

xxxxxxxx = http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=PubMed&cmd=Retrieve&list_uids=9539767&dopt=Citation

yyyyyyyy = [Hennet et al. 1998]

Therefore the final text would look like:

In vivo functional study using ST6Gal I deficient mice indicated that this sialoside is essential in promoting B lymphocyte activation and immune function. <a href=” http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=PubMed&cmd=Retrieve&list_uids=9539767&dopt=Citation” target=”_blank”>[Hennet et al. 1998]</a>
