Being at MIT can teach you a tremendous amount about the world but one week spent in the slums of Lima or a month spent working with community innovators in Dar es Salaam will teach you a whole different set of lessons inaccessible from MIT. Learn things about the world that you never imagined; learn things about yourself that you never dreamed.

- Get involved in projects that meet the needs of underserved communities through Public Service Fellowships [U,G]
- Join a student service group working overseas, like Africa Internet Technology Initiative (AITI) or Middle East Education Through Technology (MEET) [U,G]
- Do a Service IROP or find an on-site research project abroad that needs students [U]
- Take a service learning class such as D-Lab, SIGUS: Special Interest Group In Urban Settlement or another class that offers on-site field-work abroad [U,G]
- Live in iHouse and work abroad on an international development project with your housemates [U]
- Participate in a public-service internship through MISTI MIT-India, China Educational Technology Initiative (CETI), or Program on Human Rights & Justice (PHRJ) [U,G]
- Compete to develop and implement project that make a positive change in the world through the IDEAS Competition or the $100K Entrepreneurship Competition [U,G]
- Apply for Public Service Center Grants, Kelly Douglas Travel Grants or other community-focused funding sources for your own independent project [U,G]
- Conduct and evaluate development and poverty research through the Jameel Poverty Action Lab [U,G]
- Work with The Legatum Center for Development and Entrepreneurship to promote bottom-up entrepreneurship in developing countries [G]
- Organize a public service project of your own and learn about the world of fundraising while you prepare to learn about the world abroad [U,G]
- Attend the MIT International Development Fair and explore ways to become engaged in international development
