Community Action

Community Service Fund

The Community Service Fund (CSF) provides financial assistance to support the work of MIT students, staff, and faculty volunteers who perform Cambridge-based community service projects. MIT's CSF also provides money for innovative proposals developed by members of the MIT community.

Public Service Center

MIT's Public Service Center (PSC) is a resource for both the MIT and local communities. The PSC provides programming, guidance, information and support to all those who are committed to, interested in, or just curious about public service.

Graduate Student Volunteer Corps

The purpose of the Graduate Student Volunteer Corps (GSVC) is to extend opportunities for various volunteer activities to the broader graduate student community of MIT. The aim of events is to allow students to interact with and contribute to the surrounding community in a "hands-on" manner, and to encourage participants to become more involved on an individual basis.

The Environment at MIT

Use this site to learn about MIT's multifaceted commitment to the environment. The world-class leadership we demonstrate in environmental teaching and research carries over into our approach to managing our campus and operations.

Office of the Arts

The arts play a huge and pervasive role in the life of the Institute. The campus offers monumental works of sculpture, concerts, exhibits, readings, and dance and theater performances. At MIT the arts—once almost invisible—are now joyfully and utterly inescapable.

Organizations We Support

MIT has enjoyed a long and productive relationship with many neighborhood organizations in Cambridge. Through vehicles such as the MIT Community Service Fund, the Kendall Community Group, and our affiliation with the Moses Kimball Fund, MIT has made steady financial and volunteer contributions to multiple organizations. The following represents a partial yet by no means exhaustive list of organizations in the community that MIT has supported.
