Don't use the MIT logo as a background element if it's the only representation of the Institute's identity on a page or layout. MIT's graphic identity is represented by the combined impact of the logo and the words "Massachusetts Institute of Technology." The "Download for print" and "Download for web" pages show a variety of recommended combinations. While the spelled-out name of the Institute need not be immediately adjacent to the logo, both the logo and the full name should be undistorted and fully visible on the same page.
