Shaping messages that represent MIT

Messages

MIT's identity was built on generations of innovation in science and technology, art and architecture, and management and economics. Our reputation precedes us, as the saying goes.

So what do we talk about when we talk about MIT? How do we describe the MIT experience? What are the key messages we want to convey? In short, how do we reinforce the MIT identity?

When the MIT I.D. Team conducted research on the Institute's identity, they interviewed a wide variety of individuals and groups inside and outside the Institute about their image of MIT. The people they talked to found these qualities central to the MIT identity.

  • MIT generates innovative solutions to world problems.
  • MIT promotes cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • MIT is egalitarian and accessible.
  • MIT is a community experience.
  • MIT makes a difference in the world.

The MIT I.D. Team has pulled together these key resources to help you convey MIT's mission within your own communications vehicles.
