I was born and raised in West Bengal, a state in the eastern part of India. I obtained B.Sc. from Calcutta University and M.Sc. from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, both in chemistry. At IIT, I worked with Prof. B. L. Tembe on MD simulations to study diffusion of solvated ions as a part of my master thesis. Thereafter I came to the US and joined the graduate program at Indiana University, Bloomington from where I obtained a Ph.D. in Theoretical Chemistry under the mentorship of Prof. Krishnan Raghavachari. At present, I am working as a postdoctoral associate in the group of Prof. William H. Green at MIT.
My graduate research work focused on the development and application of electronic structure theory to study semiconductor surface chemistry. My current research in the Green group focuses on devising new computational tools for CO2 capture and sequestration at high temperature. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, travelling, and designing websites.
