I was born and raised in a small town called De Pinte near Ghent, Belgium.  I attended Ghent University, where I received my B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering in July 2001.  During these years, I conducted research in heterogeneous catalysis under Prof. Marin and Prof. Thybaut. After a short stray at ExxonMobil I returned to Ghent University to do a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering on microkinetic modeling of the steam cracking process. In 2006 I received my Ph.D. and became assistant professor at Ghent University.

In 2004 I joined the Green Group during the summer for the first time.  Since then I have applied RMG to many problems. In 2008 I joined the group again, now focusing more on conversion of oxygenates.

Projects I am presently working on include: identification, representation and reactions of aromatic compounds in RMG, using 3D representation to elucidate chemical reaction mechanisms and applying RMG on a series of test problems involving fossil and renewable resources.

If you have any questions regarding one of these topics, please feel free to contact me.
