| The Engineer Chapter of Groove Phi Groove
is a fledgling chapter with its beginning in Spring of 1996. We later were
officially recognized by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the
Summer of 1996. We currently are 5 members strong and each strive to make
the organization a powerful force in the community.
The Engineers have a vision. "I've seen it," as Dave McGill always says. We would like to have a strong presence in our communities for the general purpose of providing effective resources to these communities. We would like to see minority students of all levels excelling academically. We want Black elementary school children empowered and aware of their history. We want enhanced economic viability of members of the Black community. We want to attain a large membership for the Groove Social Fellowship in order to remain resourceful as well as provide effective leadership in the community. We would like to remain proactive in the political and social arena, effectively addressing ills of our communities such as drugs, gang violence, mis/non-education, and poverty. These are only a few of the many things we see and would like to provide for our communities. Fall of 1996 was our first year here and was a good one. With faith, we can continue on our steady path every season of the year to make these visions a reality for ourselves and the communities in which we live. "Our Goals are Set and WILL be achieved," Paul Michel. |
