| So what are some of the things in which we are involved? We participate
in ongoing programs and dedicate ourselves to creative programs we deem
beneficial to the community. Mutually inexclusive, these are projects
and programs for children, networking programs to bring several groups
together, forums to raise awareness and discussion, and those projects
which provde immediate need to the community. Some examples are a
voter's
eduation and awareness drive, a drive to educate the MIT community about
Liberian culture , American associations, and the Liberian civil war, a
protest against racist actions of Texaco, barbecues to bring together people
on the MIT campus, stepping for many high school and elementary school
youth, and also a dance program for youth from the community featuring
hip
hop, breakdancing, capoeira, west african dancing, stepping, and more.
We begin by asking ourselves the question, "What is really needed in the
community? What do these kids need that we see out here on the streets
everyday? How can we provide meaningful community service that does
not have just a one week impact but a long-standing and powerful one?"
Please email David McGill what specific
events we have been involved in over the years.
As this is a community service organization we would like to be one with the community. Please contact us if we can be of community service or if you can answer the question, "What does the community really need?" |
