Officer Elections for 2004-2005

Elections for new officers for the 2004-2005 term were held at the April General Council Meeting on April 7th, 2004, and the Treasurer position was filled at a Special General Council Meeting on April 21st, 2004. Information on the incoming officers is included below, following a brief description of each position. President

The President is the chief officer of the GSC and is ultimately responsible for carrying out its mission. The President is the principal liaison to the MIT Senior Administration and the MIT Corporation, as well as any bodies external to MIT.

Vice President

The Vice President assists the President in carrying out the GSC's mission. The Vice President is the primary liaison to departments and Departmental Student Groups, and coordinates the GSC Nominations Committee, which provides student representation on Institute Committees.

Secretary

The Secretary is responsible for communications with the general student body, and for the Graduate Student Newsletter. The Secretary also oversees the GSC mailing lists and the GSC website.

Treasurer

The Treasurer is responsible for the finances of the GSC, and for setting up a budget for its activities. The Treasurer coordinates the GSC Funding Board, which allocates funds to student groups. The Treasurer is the principal liaison to student groups and interacts most closely with the Association of Student Activities.
