Enrollment limited by lottery. Credit cannot also be received for 21F.700, 21F.702, 21F.752, 21F.772. Prereq - 21F.701, 21F.771, or permission of instructor. A fee applies. Special deadline for the lottery is late October 2014. Students will live with Spanish families. Fees, for which students will be responsible, include housing, two meals a day, access to a library, high speed internet at the Instituto International, classrooms, and cultural tours. Signup begins on October 6 and runs through October 27, 2014 Up to 23 students can participate in the program. Students who have taken Spanish I at MIT or have an equivalent fluency level will be accepted into the program on a first-come,first-served basis. Students who have not completed 21F.701/751/771 at MIT will complete an interview with the instructor for the course, Prof. Roberto Rey Agudo, and will also be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. This course is of special interest to students who have taken two or three years of Spanish in high school and want to refresh their knowledge before launching into Spanish at MIT. You will be notified via email of official acceptance into the program during the first week of November. Students who are given a slot must confirm their intention to take the subject at a date to be determined. Exact instructions for confirming a place will be included with the initial placement message. Failure to confirm will eliminate the student from the subject's roster and the slot will be offered to someone on the waiting list. The IAP 2014 fee, which includes two meals a day, was $1505 for a single room, $1445 for a double; we are in the process of finalizing the IAP 2015 fee. A deposit of $100 will be required at the time of confirmation. Interested students may apply for funding (Li & Fung Scholarship) within their IAP-Madrid program application in Horizons (they will be routed to the scholarship application and asked to provide additional information if they indicate that they'd like to apply for a scholarship). Although the Li & Fung Scholarship priority deadline takes place before the IAP-Madrid deadline, students should complete both their program and attached scholarship applications by the IAP-Madrid program application deadline.
