Graduate resident tutors

Resident graduate students who have completed at least one graduate year at MIT or new students who were MIT undergraduates may apply to the Dean for Student Life for positions as Graduate Resident Tutors. Such positions provide room and board but no stipend.

Refer to the job description, information packet, and downloadable application for complete details about the requirements and opportunities afforded by this position.

International students should be aware that US Homeland Security regulations consider such room and board to be compensation, i.e., equivalent to stipend. Therefore, if they are receiving a full research or teaching assistantship, they would violate immigration restrictions by accepting positions as graduate resident tutors.
