The GSO is changing its name!

This announces an important change in the title for one of the senior officers, and offices, reporting to the Chancellor. As of March 31, 2008, the Dean for Graduate Students will be the Dean for Graduate Education. Formerly known as the Graduate Students Office, or GSO, the office reporting to the Dean will be the Office of the Dean for Graduate Education, or DGE.

These new titles do not signal any change in the breadth of involvement of the office nor in its goals. Rather, the changes are consonant with titles in sister institutions and parallel those for the Dean for Undergraduate Education and the Office of the Dean for Undergraduate Education (DUE) here at MIT.
