Reactive Multilayer Thin Films for Protection Against Acutely Toxic Agents

My project work is focused on utilizing a Layer-by-Layer (LbL) assembly technique to fabricate a chemiresistor for detection of chemical warfare agents. Chemiresistors which can change their electrical resistance in response to the binding of analytes have been identified as the leading candidate for low-power, compact chemical vapor sensor. To improve performance of exiting chemiresistors, high-surface-area and permeable characteristics of an electrospun membrane will be exploited as a porous support to create a highly sensitive, compact chemosensor. This lightweight chemosensor can be incorporated into soldier uniforms, mask filters, and personal items.
