Layer-by-Layer Incorporation of Biologically-Derived Nanostructures into Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

As a joint postdoc in the Hammond and Belcher lab, my project focuses on the use of layer-by-layer absorption to incorporate of synthetic and/or biologically-derived nanostructures into dye-sensitized solar cells. By tailoring the properties of these nanostructures using covalent chemistry and biological engineering prior to their incorporation into films, we hope to develop new film architectures with improved characteristics for photovoltaic applications.
