Honoring Members of Flight 93

In September of 2002 one pilot was chosen from every state to honor the people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 by flying to Pennsylvania, the Pentagon, and New York City. Each pilot carried their respective state flag.

I was chosen as the Massachusetts representative to fly our flag to the people of New York. We first flew to Pennsylvania and honored the members of flight 93, we then flew to the Pentagon where we honored the people that lost their lives, our last flight took us down the Hudson River, past the remains of the Twin Towers, around the Statue of Liberty and our final journey to the aircraft carrier Intrepid where we presented our flags to the people of New York. This was a great honor and my aircraft was called “Honor Flight# 37”.

The Town of Pembroke’s flag that you see in my picture and the one that is displayed in the Selectmen’s office is the same flag that took this flight. Each chosen pilot signed the Pembroke flag and should be part of Pembroke’s history.

Please take a few minutes and visit the link to Flight Across America. I am far from the best pilot in Massachusetts but could not deny the honor to represent our town and state.
