Lisa Messeri has a BS in Aerospace Engineering from MIT. After graduating in 2004, she worked as a policy researcher and consultant primarily in the area of Science and Technology. Her research now focuses on ideas of place and outer space. Her hope is to draw from history of technology, anthropology of science, and cultural geography to study how people engage with something they haven't physically experienced: being in outer space. By exploring "space places on earth," she will contribute to the growing interest in a social study of outer space.
